    Allys Angels and Alphas

Question: At what age did you take an interest in bodybuilding/exercise?

Alicia: I have been a high level competitive athlete my entire life.

Question: How long have you been bodybuilding?

Alicia: 18 Years, competitively 8 years

Question: What was your motivation when you began bodybuilding?

Alicia: Very first was re-habilitative after a stress fracture from ballet. From there it progressed into a passion and love and has now become a way of life in everything I do.

Question: How much time do you spend in the gym each week?

Alicia: Around 1 hour a day, 5-6 days a week. 30 minutes of this is used for activation and priming exercises, to prepare my body for the session.

Question: Please list a brief summary of your exercise routines over an average week

    Alicia: Legs x 4
    Upper Aux x2
Fasted LISS depending on what stage
MetCon closer to comp depending on condition

Question: Are there any particular supplements you would recommend to others interested in bodybuilding?

Alicia: My fave Bulk Nutrients products are Whey Protein Isolate or Thermowhey (Choc flavoured of course!), added with Bulk’s BCAAs, Leucine and Green Fusion has given me the boost I have needed to power through my workouts, recover faster and maintain a healthy mind and body. This year you’ll also find in my go to bag of Bulk Nutrient supplements, Diindolylmethane (DIM) and R Alpha Lipoic Acid (RALA), which have been great for aiding energy production, glucose disposal and estrogen metabolism.

Question: What general advice would you give to somebody interested in bodybuilding?

Alicia: Do your research on the industry, what your want to achieve, set goals and work backwards on how to go about it. Make sure you understand your own biomechanics and structural limitations before going into anything, so you are in the position to improve on your current state and prevent injury and doing more harm than good. A great place to start is to listen to my PodCast – The Competitive Edge.

Question: What changes in exercise trends have you seen since you began bodybuilding?

Alicia: Moving from face to face to online. An increase in strong vs skinny, and complete change in socio-stereo types. Large change in demographic – traditionally older men to younger women, increase in bikini divisions and change from pure mass to a more aesthetically pleasing look.
