I'm sitting here watching a movie that had a scene of kids bobbing for apples in a big tub of water. I did it myself when I was a kid. And the first thing that popped into my mind was: We used to actually make a party game out of sticking our heads in a bucket full of water filled with saliva and mucous in the hopes of scoring a saliva/mucous covered apple.

      Ahh the good ol' days

ah, the good ole' days....not a care in the world....who would have known that today that tub of mucous and saliva could also be filled with an orgy of bacteria, and parasites. The apples are most likely coated with pesticides as well as been genetically altered to grow faster and larger.

Exactly. My granny used to have a couple green apple trees on the farm, and it was no big deal to walk out there and stand and scarf apples until i got a bellyache. Now there would be some kind of EPA waiver signed, possibly a soil toxicology study needing done before apples can be eaten or something like that

Screw it, to hell with todays germaphobes. You build up immunity to germs by coming in contact with, or ingesting them in small amounts no different then you do with a flu shot. There comes a point where trying to live in a clean room environment is counter productive.

Exactly. I notice that all the people that use anti-bacterial jells like a crackhead with OCD are usually the ones getting sick, yet when I was a kid and lived on a farm, we used to spend the day ankle deep in cowsh*t or putting hay in barns in hot ass summer with dust so think you could barely see light coming through the door and I couldn't tell you the last time I got sick.

There is more to the farm analogy IMO. Living on a farm you also tend to eat a mostly whole foods diet, and not the typical food like substances of the rest of society. If we think that doesn't affect us in a big, bad way, we're fools!

We stopped doing it at the Holloween parties after we caught little Joey pissing in the tub...

worst part is he said he did it the previous 3 years... that water always tasted funny

His uncontrollable giggling didn't tip you off a year or two earlier?
