Does your gym have the aerobic steps w/ inserts?
Example (do a google image search for "aerobic step" for many others):

Set them up at the proper depth and use them as your marker. You won't need many inserts either. At my height/leg length and my forward knee travel, one of those steps w/ 4 inserts puts me right at parallel when on the box.

Also, don't worry about their ability to hold weight. They will hold just fine.

      No you don't.

Start with the bar, film yourself, re asses depth and repeat. Most people in the gym have no idea about anything squat related, nor should you need a spot.

Refer to the above picture, the hip creasent has to be below the knee, this is a hell of a lot lower than what you are doing now. Chances are that you might squat lower but still above parallel, so keep the form checks going.

Chazzy - good idea, yeah they've got ones, a bit different to this but they'll do, they're a lot lower than the benches, never thought of using them.

      Repped for helpfulness, much appreciated.
