Smith machine military press. To reduce tricep stimulation as much as possible? Hmm iv been experimenting then since, and doing it slightly partial makes me feel that my shoulders r really working, by the means of burning sensation.
Smith machine military press. personally, I would do full ROM and let your weak spots fix themselves. Don't work around lagging tri's. but, you can do it this way, you can do it that way
Smith machine military press. Well what if i dont? Would standing m.press bb or such thing similar to that in terms of core stimulation eg. Squats/ deads be sufficient for the abs/obliques? Without crunches?
Smith machine military press. I can't stand doing any pressing motion with a barbell due to the restricted movement and the awkward angle my wrist has to be in which puts stress on the tendons in my elbow. Also with barbell and smith machine movements you're forced to hold the bar slightly in front of your lateral deltoid, which puts more tension on the front deltoid. The movement is optimal when your arms are parallel to your lateral delt and with a full range of motion, you can't really do that with a smith machine/barbell. On top of this you have the issue with symmetry; obviously the more dominant arm is going to take a greater role in the exercise. Generally speaking with pressing movements: Dumbbells > Barbell > Smith Machine. The only exercises I can see a smith machine being ok for are shrugs and calf raises - exercises with a small range of motion that isn't restricted by the wholly vertical movement.
Smith machine military press. This also, dumbbell press is an awesome shoulder exercise, the only big gain I see out of the standing military press, is the core activation.
