Yeah, im gonna start lifting again after 4 years, i saw some noob gains back then so i have a little muscle memory but..
I avoided the gym membership this time and opted for a bench and dumbells, i will train legs once a week at my local gym under a day price scheme, its cheaper.
The dumbells ive got are heavy for me, 2x 20kg dumbells for bench pressing and an assortment for other stuff but, how, without a spotter (because i live alone in my flat) can i lift these dumbells safely?
Going to failure is the only way to see results? Right? Makes sense to me, no pain no gain..
So, how do i do this without killing myself?
ps - Gym membership isnt an option, monthly, its a rip off and the next gym is 15 miles away.
Also, throwing the dumbells, or dropping them isnt good either because the apartment below me is occupied by a guy that hates me already..lol
      Thanks.

I've never heard of people having issues of lifting dumbbells safely with no spotter.

I pray to buddha this is a troll post, but I have a feeling - and it makes me weep for society - this is a serious question.

How is it a troll question?

Imagine your benching hard with DB's and you reach failure but u remember not to drop them, then, your arms collapse and youve got a dumbell crushing your chest?

      How is that not possible?

Listen, if i need to drop the dumbells in order to live, then obviously i'll drop the db's, but i dont want to, so what do i do?
How can i reach failure and not drop dumbells?
      Someone tell me....!"!!

I've always had trouble getting the dumbells into starting position by myself at about 75lbs each. I'm able to do plenty of reps at that weight but struggle to get in position. So I normally just do what I can get up there until my arms feel like they're going to fall off.

Because most people are smart enough not to bench until this point without a spotter.

Its not a question of intelligence, its a question of expediency.

its a troll question because for one you shouldn't have to be posting about how to lift dumbbells properly. It's quite obvious its to heavy for you since you have to make a post about it on here. Lower the weight man don't be muscleman, get a barbell with some free weights as that will work a lot harder if not able to just adjust accordingly.

It is a question of intelligence if you are benching to complete failure with no spotter.
