I like Flex's idea with the pic. Maybe a step further. Find a favorite pic of you and him from when you were little and have an artist do it as a black and white drawing, or charcoal, watercolor..whatever.

I bet he doesn't have one of those already.

And if by chance your dad is into theater I recommend doing the picture in pastels! Of course you could just get him a couple musicals in that case too.
