      What a shame.

Nothing ends hatred like making people shut up and pretend a problem doesn't exist.

      It's not stupid. It's a slippery slope...

Meanwhile, Acura probably touts itself as an equal opportunity employer, like most companies nowadays do. A bit hypocritical. So, they can be sued. Which the back peddling they're doing now, has more to do with that, than concern they offended anyone.

I'm sorry, but any corporation touting "equal opportunity employer" is full of it. They have guidelines that they try to follow to the letter because Uncle Sam threatens them with massive lawsuits if they don't, but what goes on paper and what goes on in the boardroom are two different things.

I think you meant "nuisance" in your neg. Not "nuance".

"your a nuance to everyone around you troll"...I think not.

      ^^^This^^^

I can understand the bbc threads in the misc, cause those were completely out of hand, but an intelligent discussion over differences we may or may not have between reasonable people should be accepted.

Me, too. I've gone from being a news hound to a quick scan of Drudge looking for signs of the end of the world.

You can't trust anything anymore, especially journalism because they cast such a wide net.

Were this issue related to anything other than an advertising campaign, I would find the topic interesting. However, many parts call for a specific type of actor or actress with a specific look. I'm sure when they case Suzanne Sommers in Three's Company the part called for an attractive blonde. I guarantee the part for Precious, in the movie with the same name, called for an overweight black girl. And the fact remains that the world seems to love dark complected white people and light complected people of color. Look in any magazine at what is deemed as the most beautiful. I'm sure the advertising lead on this project was looking for someone more appealing to America.

I think the more interesting topic, of late, regarding race is that there's never been a black Bachelor. Not that I watch that show. But supposedly ABC claims no one would watch a black bachelor. That made me sit back and think. Hmmm. Is America not interested in this, or is ABC's marketing research off the mark? Either way, I think that stings far more of racism than the Acura commercial.
