It's odd that he can spell perfectly some words that even the most seasoned English speakers spell incorrectly, yet seems to on purpose slaughter his sentences. if you call him on it, he pretends to not pay attention and glosses right over it.

I never got that far with Mandarin, but I'd expect someone to improve over time and start getting things right while still making mistakes. Spelling a word correctly or getting a few sentences right doesn't mean someone's a master of the language. He does come up with some funny posts, whether they're unintentional or not.
