I don't understand peoples obsessions with bench pressing especially teenagers, almost every highschool kid that you
Talk to about working out asks you how much you bench, no one ever asks how much you clean deadlift or squat. I guess it's cool if your 16-17 and you can say you bench 200 but I feel like if you put around 150 pounds in front of these highschool kids and tell them to power clean it they won't be able to do it. Idk maybe it's me but I feel like Benching isn't something you should be obsessed with.

I'm not saying every teenager won't be able to clean 150 I'm just saying most of them.

They just don't have much knowledge about lifting, it's like a thing where all people who don't lift know nothing about squat, front squat, deadlifts etc. But they do know about bench and bicep curls somehow.

Yea it just confuses me why people workout their upper body, (teenagers) and its not like they do upper back arms and stuff but only their chest, they don't have any real strength if I'm correct

BP is generally considered the golden standard for people who don't lift, just like when people ask how many push-ups/sit-ups you can do. Honestly, I have no clue how many push-ups/sit-ups I can do, but if somebody asks me about my lifts I'd much rather just say my bench then spend half an hour explaining exactly what a squat is, or a deadlift, or a clean.

What phucking average teenager does cleans? Not even the average teen lifting does cleans. The only time I see people do cleans is sport related or powerlfiting.

Haha I guess I'm not average, I mean cleans is like a perfect workout, it basically hits every large muscle group, gives you a bunch of power/strength im only 16 but I'm also a wrestler so I need to work on my core and stuff

      Because they want boobs man!
Well. Most of them only know about benching because everyone likes to walk normally.. Seriously. I'm not joking. They've probably tried working out their legs but the next day they can't even walk and they look all stupid. (It happen to me)
But what they don't know is they look like chickens after a year or two. That's why I do full body workout now over the week. Because my legs got a little skinnier and I disliked it.
Explain to them how their legs look. They'll shut up.
