Why wonder about a single martial art when MMA (mixed martial arts) includes a full repertoir of skills.. however in terms of full self defense where the main focus is fighting without rules I'd say Krav Maga as this include defense against weapons and such.. Good Luck!

carrying a knife is so phucking dumb

1. get caught with it = a lot of trouble maybe jail time
2. if you pull a knife on someone but your not willing to stab them it could easily end up being you that gets stabbed.
3. if you do stab someone your probably phucked, jail/revenge etc

i agree with you about prevention

prevention>fighting skills>weapons

Ok. Well thats great. But I'm sure you won't have a knife on you 100% of the time. And when you don't and you cannot avoid a confrontation, you will wish you knew how to fight. And if it just a fight, it shouldn't have to come to using a knife. But Im done with this. I understand that you don't think learning a MA is necessary. I do and I thats why I made this thread.

better than being dead. Id rather kill than be killed, OP isnt talking about normal brawls, hes talking about situations where youve tried everything to avoid the fight.

For the record, i used to BJJ and wrestling. I'd never ever had to use it in real life.

Because I feel like MMA takes a LOT of time to get good at and learn the skills. I feel that something like Muay Thai or Boxing would serve me best. All fights start standing. In a fight using your fists and be attacked with fists is the most common thing that happens. Boxing will prepare you for this.
muay thai has 8 weapons it provides you (2 fists, 2 legs, 2 elbows, and 2 knees). Anyone would have a hard time with a muay thai fighter standing up.

If you wanna learn to fight just pick up boxing or wrestling. American sports. With your white genetics and weight lifting boxing and wrestling can go far. Only reason asians prance around doing kung fu and wasting our time learning pressure points and joints to handle bigger men is cause the white guy and cuz all we eat is grass and rice while you eat beef and chicken 24/7.

i would go with wrestling first. Most of the time its some shoving and usually it starts with a tackle or some sort of take down. Even when you start out hands up u just jab at each other looking like idiots for a few minutes until somebody mans up and gets inside.

If you can wrestle you can 1st try and avoid fighting by putting them in a hold/lock. You wouldn't necessarily be hurting them and you can tell them to back off and to give up.

If it gets very very serious, you can use wrestling to your advantage and put him in a submission and basically ground and pound. you don't need to learn how to punch. if your ontop of him just start wailing on his face.

But boxing would be great to learn how to end it quick. Get a good jab or just K.O. somebody in 1 shot to shut em up.

Either 1 would be a great place to start.

You need Balls to fight. Theres always this gut feeling you get when you try to hit somebody. Maybe somepeople here know what im talking about, but sometimes i just can't hit em. or if its my friend and we get in a huge fight. i just can't. i just can't do it. And you have to get used to it. So you have to make sure you keep sparring. Thats why most fighters are bad people, they go outside and look for trouble. With their ego boost and knowledge it makes them even worse and douchier. Wrestlers i find aren't as bad, but those really tiny skinny kids brag a **** ton if they are good at wrestling and it pisses me off. like bro u weight 100 lbs i can toss u off me so stfu.
