Deload weeks are often recommended after a demanding training block, but there's considerable disagreement about whether to schedule them in advance.

Some people reduce their weights or number of sets every four to eight weeks. Others continue training normally until their strength stalls, joints begin to ache, or general fatigue starts affecting their workouts. A third option is to take several complete rest days rather than perform lighter sessions.

Which approach works best for you?

Do you follow planned deload weeks, wait for signs of accumulated fatigue or rarely deload at all? If you do, do you reduce the weight, cut the training volume or stay out of the gym completely?

It would also be useful to know whether you normally return feeling stronger and more motivated, or whether the lighter week simply interrupted your momentum.
