      There are 5 questions i get asked quite alot so here i will list them and give my answers.

      What is the best way to lose fat.


      First of all we need to understand there is no real secret or simple answer here as everyone is different. The easiest way to look at the answer here is take a look at your diet and exercise levels. Most people that dont eat healthy do actualy know they are not and if you dont exercise then you know where to start.
      We can get realy technical about how to lose fat but i would suggest cutting simple sugars and saturated fats out of your diet and mix body strength training with endurance training as this has shown to decrease body fat although doing aerobic exercise on its own still burns fat.
      Just take slow simple steps and changing your lifestyle is what will help you lose bodyfat.

      Will girls build muscle if they lift weights.

      Whether you build muscle or not depends on a few things. Genetics, training intensity and diet. You have to have a high protein diet to build muscle however eating moderate amounts of protein can help give you a toned and fit looking physique.
      Being toned means having muscle.
      Girls lifting weights is extremely beneficial to look toned but unless you lift very heavy and eat like a bodybuilder you wont get to big or bulky so dont worry!

      How do i get a flat stomach.

      If we are talking a six pack then dieting and training over a period of time is the only way for that.
      If you need to lose weight then this will help.
      Certain foods like high carb foods can leave you feeling bloated so this can give the appearance of a bulging stomach.
      Bad posture can also give the appearance of big stomach. So if you want a flat stomach theres a few things to do but no quick fix.

      How often should i workout
      .

      According to ACSIM it is recommended that you do some kind of exercise 20 to 60 mins three to five days a week.
      However if you have specific goals id say 3 days a week you can achieve noticable results.
      Any exercise is better than none just remember that!

      Should i use supplements.


      If you are eating a balanced and nutritious diet there should be no need to use supplements.
      But today supplements for gaining muscle and losing fat are becoming more popular.
      If you use quality brands they can work and improve performance. So depending on your training goals depends on what you should use.

      For all the questions here i would recommend that you get further advice from a registered qualified professional before undertaking any exercise or changing your diet.

      Hi Tom

      Thanks for some great advice above - all very helpful.

      One question I don't know the answer to, which we often receive emails about, is so called "man boobs/moobs" and whether with exercise these will disappear. You only need to look around the world today to see it is an issue for many men and more and more children.

      This is quite an interesting subject that i too get questions alot about.

      There is many reasons why young and old people suffer with this.
      The main reason for 'man boobs' is the obvious one. Being overweight with little muscle tone. If this is the case then you know what you need to do. Exercise to lose weight and clean your diet up.

      Another main reason is alcohol. This contains oestrogen. Excess oestrogen can cause fatty deposits in male breast tissue and can also cause a puffy 'man boob' appearance known as gynecomastia. Again knowing what to do here is obvious. Reduce your drinking of alcohol.

      In younger people that have this problem i believe a poor diet is a huge factor with this. There is so much chemical junk in alot of foods and drinks aimed at the younger generation today that you do not know what you are feeding them. Limit the treats and try to get them to consume fresh healthy foods and drinks. This advice is the same for older people also.

      Low testosterone can also be a factor in this too but if you have cleaned your diet up started exercising and reduced your alcohol intake and you still have 'man boobs' I would recommend seeing your Doctor to get further advice.

      Some foods that can help reduce gynecomastia are
      Omega 3 fats
      Broccoli and greens
      Pulses
      Carrots
      Soy
      And drink plenty of water.
