      If there were 3 lights in the upstairs section of a house with 3 light switches in the downstairs entrance of the house, how would you figure out which switch belongs to which light.

      Here are the circumstances;

      1) You can only go upstairs once

      2) You can not see the lights from down stairs.

      NOTE: Had to add this one after the responses

      3) You are alone.

      I would have one of the kids go upstairs, once, and yell at me when the lights went on or off.

      I would pull the wires and read the tags left by the nice electrician which state: "This wire goes to X light upstairs".

      Turn on 2 then wait for a minute and turn one off

      Walk up stairs the one on you left on is first
      The one that's hot belongs to the 2nd
      And the cold one is the switch you didn't touch
