      true m8, certain screen types can be damaged by pausing for to long or sometimes even the static logo's of some channels.

      I recently bought a 3D plasma and if i pause it for a short time then change channel i can see a slight outling from the paused channel! goes away after a few seconds. Not a cheapy TV either!
      I think it's called ghosting

      yes its called screen burn.and you can turn the screensaver function off on dvd players and tv's.it only needs to be left on for a few hours to cause this though not a fortnight lol
