      Paddypower offers a £50 matched bet. I just set up an account to bet, if my girlfriend sets one up too..

      I put £50 on Sonnen to win, they match it with £50 so the total stake is £100 = 2/1 returns £300 and I'd profit £200

      If I use my girlfriends and bet on Silva to win also

      £50 to win + their £50 matching so total stake at £100 4/11 and he wins returns £136 and I profit £36

      Either way I profit, that can't be right?

      I feel like I'm being really thick and missing something blatantly obvious here. lol

      I guess they know from experience that you are likely to spunk the £136 on other bets.

      I'm about to put £100 on it then if I lose I'm gonna come kick your ass in whichever way the fight ends, so if you get arm barred by a randomer next week you'll know why

      Yeah i thought maybe thats the case.

      Nearly right, sadly the matched stake is not returned with the profit/returns. So you'd either return £250 on sonnen winning, or £86 on Silva.

      You dont get your free stake back. So total outlay for you and the missus will be £100 if the favourite guy wins, you'll get your 50 notes back plus £36 ergo £14 down, no?
