Yeah I did like that too funny enough. I first learnt that at 2nd purple cos I kept badgering my teacher to show me it properly and he gave in I also had the privilege of attending some of Sensei Enoida's week long classes. That guy is a proper legend. Was sad to hear he passed away a few years ago.

Does karate have any techniques applicable to the real world? It always looks like it wouldn't be very useful in a self defense situation.

yeah i cant wait till i get to black belt cos then that's when u start learning.. all the belts leading up to black belt is just basics . i packed karate in when i was 16 -17 was too busy on night out e.t.c but i hven't long joined back probabily 2 months maximum , hopefully going for my white n brown belt in July ... what happened to your knee then just a bad injury ??

yeah plenty mate , for example you learn all the different pressure points to knock people out , all the moves / techniques are put into freestyle so u know how they all work.. its not all defense u attack aswell
