      Become attatched to there young ?

      Its not a morbid thread, l am genuinely curious after seeing a goose with its goslings.

      I know its not easy to judge an animals feelings but would love to know if other animals mourn the loss of the young.

      Elephants mourn the loss of there young...it's not just us. But sometimes, it can feel like it.

      I think chimpanzees mourn as well. Saw a programm on telly recently where a baby chimp in a zoo had died. the mother nursed it and cradled it for about 3 days before laying it down. All the other chimps in the group kept a distance and let her mourn.

      By attached do you mean love and look after or just take care of until they can fend for themselves, as I think we may be the only ones to do the love, care for, provide for thing.

      When I stomp on baby squirrels heads infront of their mothers I'm sure I hear a little cry of Whyyyyyyyyy!.
