I am noticing my breathing is getting heavier for some reason, is it due to getting " bigger " is it lack of cardio and general fitness ?

Has / does anyone else suffer or find this ?

Its prodomidantly worse whilst in a relaxed state.

      Any help much appreciated...

IMO since leaving swimming to weight train and gaining a couple of stone, I find I am alot more out of breath and breathing heavily

      Can be both.

I work with a girl who is 5,2 and weights just under 15 stone. She heavy breaths just sitting down.

As your muscles get bigger there will be a greater demand for oxygenated blood. The result is an increase in cardio respiratory function to satisfy that demand

My missus is forever moaning at me for this. I breathe through my nose and she likens it to me trying to sail a boat. I don't even notice i'm doing it.

Getting bigger goes hand in hand with reduced fitness mate if you don't make a consicous effort to keep it up, I had the same thing when I was 15 odd stone and flat out heavy lifitng with no cardio (@5'9) would be puffing and panting walking up a few steps was ridiculous.
