      Most people say health.

But if we're honest, that's not always the whole story.

      Confidence?

      Attracting a partner?

      Getting stronger?

      Recovering after a difficult period?

Wanting to prove something to yourself?

What was the real reason you started?

It's interesting how often the answer changes when people are completely honest.

Many people say they started training for health, but when you dig a little deeper, confidence, appearance, self-esteem, stress relief, proving something to themselves, or recovering from a difficult period in life often played a part too.

What's also fascinating is how those reasons evolve over time.

Someone might start training because they want bigger arms or to lose a few pounds, but years later they're still training because it helps their mental health, keeps them active, gives them structure, or simply makes them feel better about themselves.

For those who haven't posted yet, I'd be interested to know:

What was the reason you first walked into a gym?

And has that reason changed over the years?

Some great stories already in this thread. Keep them coming.
