  • Three Tips to Avoid Adrenal Fatigue

Nancy GubertiDid you know that adrenal fatigue is very common among extremely driven people? Many athletes and body builders are dealing with some form of adrenal impairment. The adrenal system can have a direct impact on your thyroid and hormones. If you ever experienced deep fatigue, a decline in endurance, trouble concentrating, feeling overwhelmed and loss of strength, these symptoms all point to an increased risk of adrenal burnout. So why should you care?

Well for starters, an imbalance of your adrenals can lead to serious health complications, suppressed immune system, depression, food intolerances, inflammation, sluggish metabolism, can lead to addictions and a disease-vulnerable state.

Here’s some background on adrenals; they are located above your kidneys and part of your endocrine system. Responsible for releasing stress hormones reacting to the flight-or-flight response as well as managing your metabolism. Sleep deprivation, caloric restrictions, poor stress reduction strategies, life imbalances, nutritional deficiencies and extensive exercising stimulate the stress hormone release of cortisol. Elevated cortisol can exasperate mood issues, headaches, anger management, food cravings, anxiety, panic disorder and weakened immune system. What happens next is that the adrenals stop producing the right balance of hormones and every bodily function is negatively affected and adrenal fatigue sets in.

Reducing stress on your mind and body, eliminating toxins in your food and environment as well as toxic relationships, getting restorative sleep are great habits to cultivate.

The top three tips to avoiding adrenal fatigue:

    1. Your food intake is huge for every aspect of healthy living and adrenal fatigue is no exception. I like to call the three R’s…remove, replace and replenish. First you must remove all the toxins from your food intake then replace with healthier food choices and replenish the necessary nutrients to keep your adrenals running smoothly. Nourishment from clean food needs to be incorporated by eating organic, non-gmo, grass-finished meats, avoiding caffeine, sugar, artificial colors & sweeteners, processed or microwaved foods, unhealthy fats & fried foods.

    2. Supplements the necessary vitamins, herbs and minerals to support your adrenals. A quality non-corn derived Vitamin C, Vitamin B6 with magnesium, Ashwagandha, l-theanine and Vitamin D3 is a good start. If you are taking fat-burning stimulants that actually taxes your adrenal and detoxification systems making matters worse. Depending on your levels, you may want to take serotonin homeopathic remedies to increase your levels and reduce your excitotoxins. Best testing perform is to check 74 markers on how your body is actually functioning with a first morning urine test and it provides insight into how your GI tract, digestion, adrenals, neurotransmitters, detoxification pathways, amino acids, fatty acids and nutritional markers are all functioning together.

    3. Stress Reduction strategies and Sleep are most important to restoring your adrenal functioning. Your body needs consistency with your sleep patterns and you must practice healthy stress reduction techniques since there will always be stress but your reaction is what makes or breaks you.

Our bodies are resilient and you’ve got to be in it to win it. Developing a positive mindset is part  of living a healthy lifestyle and believing your health is worth it and all the efforts you need to implement.
