When I was cutting I started think I was really damaging myself psychologically. Looking at a banana and thinking "wow 90 calories.. That's like 5% of my day, I better not eat it".. Or not going out with a drink with your mates because a couple of ciders is half your daily calories. Looking at the packet of EVERY product in tescos.

Ok so alot of us this is our main hobby.. But I just feel sometimes it's becoming destructive! e

When I realised I'd rather die than stay the way I am forever

I think the point where it changes is the point when people start called you 'obsessed' rather than dedicated. They basically fail to understand your reasoning behind what you do. They don't get why you would have a diet coke over a beer or why you can't go watch the football because you're training etc.

Well, that's when I realised that this was more than a hobby for me at least. I tried to explain numerous times to my friends but I've given up caring. Theyre my mates and support me even if they can't understand, they still accept its something I do. I compared it to the equivalent of not being out to come out because I was spending time with the mrs, only my mrs was called Gym

the moment your diet changes and you start looking at each muscle group in detail i think that is the point where it is not a hobby and it has become a lifestyle.

obsessed..... that's just what people say when they don't understand dedication.

i like to think we work to live and train to live....whats the point of giving up all of lifes pleasures just so you look good in front of a mirror...if you want to go out with your mates do it and enjoy it, it will be just a micro step back in your training and will keep you sane.

I must be obsessed because I can real off the top of my head the nutrition values of most the things i buy and eat

Also i love that the gym keeps me from going out drinking feel much better for it and so does my wallet.

listening to your mates telling you how good you look on a night out is what its all about...thats why we train, to be better than the average man....that memory will inspire you to train harder...and you will.....enjoy the fruits of your labor...lol

I feel the problem is where society feels its normal to sit on a couch and watch sh*t like 'Towie', therefor making anyone that doesn't feel like the odd one out.
People like us get called obsessed because it makes them feel better if we're tarnished with some sort of negative about it.

      Agreed
'obsessed is a word the lazy use to describe the dedicated'
