People often say they want to “get fit”, but that can mean completely different things depending on who you ask.

For one person, it might mean being strong and muscular. For someone else, it could be running 5K comfortably, maintaining a healthy weight or getting through an active day without feeling exhausted.

There is also a difference between looking fit and actually being fit. Someone can have a lean, muscular physique but struggle with endurance or mobility, while another person may not look particularly athletic but can walk for miles, lift heavy objects and recover quickly.

What does being fit mean to you personally?

Are you mainly interested in strength, muscle, cardiovascular fitness, mobility or simply remaining active and independent as you get older? Is there one test or everyday activity that tells you whether your fitness is where you want it to be?
