      Squats? Nope.
      Deadlifts? Nope.
      Bench press? Nope.

Sorry, it's not a fantastic workout to gain strength. It is a fantastic workout to burn calories.

Ab Ripper X is nothing special. It's just a ton of crunches and other ab movements. It's big time overkill. I wouldn't do that three times a week. By the time you're 60 you'll have some disc problems in your back from all of those unnatural crunch movements.

Get a swiss ball and do some planks and talk to me about a tough ab workout.
Grab a cable at the gym and do some woodschops and talk to me about a tough ab workout.

To get ripped and to get big muscles, you need to build muscles. Contrary to what many believe, you can't be ripped without muscle mass.

So, step one is to put on muscle.

Do you understand that height impacts weight? Not everyone will look that same with 150 pounds at 10% BF. For example, someone 5'7" might look good at that weight, where someone 6'1" would look very malnourished.

At 170 pounds, you look rather scrawny (perhaps even emaciated) and clearly you desperately need to add mass, per your picture:

By the way, how tall are you?

If you had that kind of progress with P90X, imagine what you'd do with a good strength building program focusing on compound movements.
