if you are hitting your carb, fat, protein goals for the day you don't need to worry about a magical insulin spike. The only time you REALLY need to worry and be precise on that is if you are taking exogenous insulin post workout...which I assume you are not doing.

if it makes you feel better I haven't had carbs directly post workout in like 2 years. I actually like peanut butter and protein powder. A drink directly post workout is not necessary it just satisfies me to have peanut butter and protein.

OP, read the stickies referenced before you post any more ITT. In general, to answer your question, it depends on your protocol and you goals. I asked if you had some goal other than maximize muscle protein balance, because there are other possible goals that would justify using high GI carbs, but those are very narrow situations.

Chances are, if you don't know why you are chasing a insulin "spike" then you probably just heard some bro at the gym talk about it, or read about it in a fitness magazine (funded by supplement company ads), or read about it in a supplement advertisement. All of those sources are usually poor sources to use for designing your meals. By the way, when someone tells you that you want to "spike" insulin, you should always ask them how high of an elevation they mean, and what is the purpose.
