Whats the best way about getting a full bike license these days? Someone mentioned a direct access course but I didn't quite get what they meant? I've had a full car license for 10 years, im over 21 and ridden 125cc's from 17-21. Is it just a case of paying for this course over a few days (as i'm fairly competent on a bike) and taking a test at the end of it, then jump straight on to any bike I like? Anyone know what sort of prices these courses are?? Cheers
Motor bike test Direct access mate, basically an intensive course of about a week, depending in ur riding experience, test at the end taken on a 500cc machine. That then enables you to go buy/ride any size bike, providing you can afford the rip off insurance
Motor bike test I would say im a good rider, just need to get up to date with all the mirror checking and stuff they check for on the test. What does that £400-£500 include? Could it be less if I only need a couple of lessons? Already got a quote on a GSXR 600 for £650
Motor bike test Move to cyprus. Apply for Cypriot provisional, do the theory, buy a superbike which you can ride for a year without needing to take a test. If your still alive a year later do the bike test. Which is go around several cones do an emergency stop (the bigger the skid the better). If its raining or the instructor can't be ****d he will simply sign it off as you rode the bike there and that's good enough for him!!! CRAZY CRAZY CRAZY place!!! Can't offer any advice for UK sorry..but good luck with it..
Motor bike test You need a bike theory test which now has the hazard awareness piece as well, then you need a current and up to date CBT (Compulsory Basic Training) which lets you ride up to a 125cc. Then you do DAS which is Direct Access. About 5 days intensive with a test on the last day. I did mine just before they changed it adding in a load of hazard manoeuvres and off road / car park type slow bike control etc Good luck - about £750 all inc a few years back.
Motor bike test theory test first then It's two tests now one off the road which is just dodging a few cones and stopping correctly. then the normal test out on the road
Motor bike test Didn't realise it was so much Apparently they are changing it again in the new year to stop the direct access or something?
