They won't simulate gravity - you can't do that. The gyroscope effect will cause them to exert a force if you move them in a particular direction, but these things are not going to feel like heavy weights.

They're going to blaze through batteries as well.

but the powerballs only work when the wrist is also rotated and the spinning action tries to pull the ball away from you and the wrist is worked by pulling against that force.

how a tube full of spinning weights can acheive the affect of mass genuinely interests me

let me know what you can find out mate

thats what i was thinking, and wouldnt the forces just cancel themselves out if moved along a horizontal or vertical plane only and only have an effect at the extreme of each movement?

No doubt someone will find a sexual use for them.

If you move it perpendicular to the axis of rotation, you'll get bugger all. The gyro effect only works when you try to force the axis of rotation to turn.

It's like a bicycle wheel. It spins round, but doesn't exert a force if you move the bike forwards. If you try to tip the bike over or turn the front wheel, it exerts a force against what you are trying to do - which is what gives a moving bicycle more stability than a stationary one.

      Physics grad btw
