when you count up daily protein intake do you say 50 grams of say tuna is 50 grams of protein for the day

or do you factor its say 40% bio available (or whatever it is for that source of protein) and count it as 20grammes??

I count it as what the food gives, so 200g chicken is 40g protein (give or take)

I count the protein content not the weight of the product.

yeah i figure it like this but my mate was saying like he's changing it to count what is bio available....which kind of makes sense......hmmmm

like i think tuna IS only 40% bio available which is crap

      whey is 100% available

To be honest, if you did that then you would be forever researching everything you eat trying to figure out how much of it is bio available... Sounds like a ball ache to me..

Edit: you'd also be eating a hell of a lot more due to not getting enough protien.

That makes perfect sense mate. Someone getting 400g protein from tuna a day is not going to gain as well as someone getting 400g from other sources like whey, chicken etc?

      Ok so i am confused...

Are you saying that 400g or protien from source A is not the same as 400g from source B? Can't get what you mean with that?
