My local fitness first has sold out to a local company. No contract, pay as you go, pay monthly but no contract.
Are the days of a lock in gone?

      3 gym where I live.

One is contact,£40 a month ir if you sign up for a 3 year contract drops to £35 ,2 others one that's £3.5 a visit or £8 a week and the other one is £3 a visit or £6.5 a week, none even need a weeks notice to cancel just tell them on the was out.

The one that is £3.5 a week I know quite a famous bodybuilder goes,Jeff something(can't think of his surname), i believe he's won Mr UK and top 3 in Europe or something like that.

I won't go to a gym that is a contract gym. My last one was pay monthly but no contract, my current one is pay monthly with no contract. I'm fine with that. If a gym wants me to have a contract I won't join, not worth the hassle and if for any reason I was injured I'd be paying for something I can't use.

Most gyms that are contract only are fitness gyms, most hardcore bb gyms ahave options available akaik.
Fitness gyms count on people joining up and not going

Only gym near me was a council one, but they've gone to a private company now, they offer good options, either pay as you go , years membership and reduced concessional rates for ppl like me on benefits, or monthly rates which includes all the other branches in the area, which apparantly have better gyms. It's not bad tbh, it's £2.30 a session and £6 a year membership. Or £25 a month for unlimited use + other gyms + spa's etc.

To my knowledge The Gym Group is the only major chain with 24 gyms that have got behind the 'no contract' USP. I like the concept but think it helps the fatties take it easy as they know they wont waste money not going. Whereas paying £75 odd at David Lloyd is much more of an incentive to get your moneys worth.
