After yesterday's ruling that Tony Nicholson could not end his life with the help of doctors, what are your opinions on this?

I believe that everyone has the right to choose if they live or die even as long as they are of sound mind. Nobody should be made to carry on living a life of hell if they choose not to.

We have sympathy when animals are ill and willingly put them to sleep but when it comes to human's we would rather let them suffer. Something is not right there.

      I agree with you

We seem to think just because there are lots of factors making it difficult that we shouldn't try to overcome them and make a sensible ruling

If you seen him on TV yesterday crying his heart out, it shows how much he wants to die. If i ended up like that I couldn't stand to live like that. If one of my parents/ wife / children were like that and asked me to help them die i would hope i would have the strength to do it and suffer the consequences after it

Theres the worry that pressure from loved ones will make a person take the step to avoid becoming a burden, especially when theres an inheritance.

Personally if I was this guy, he can obviously communicate so if it was me and I was so detemined I could always arrange with my carer to travel to switzerland where this sort of thing is legal. Surely the carer wouldn't be liable for translating my wishes when it comes to booking tickets and what not.

I agree also, you should have the right to die if you choose to.

It must be hell being in that situation. I'd want to be put out of my misery, 100%.

I saw this, heartbreaking to say the least

It did say the only way he could die, is to starve himself . Not entirely true, It also said he was fed through a tube , so he has no choice to eat .
Poor man, ive always said if i even become blind i wouldn't want to live anymore. i no thats selfish as hell but i dont think i could do it

Even if starving himself was the only way to die, how inhumane and cruel is that?!

From what I've read I think the Judge did the correct thing. These two cases would have set a president that would be used in future cases with no certain safe guards. If the law is to change then it should be done by parliament creating new/amended laws, not by a judge changing how the courts interpret existing laws that are not set up for this scenario.

I'm not saying I disagree with the guys being able to decide to die, and have a massive amount of sympathy for their situation... but anything the judge did would have effects of lots of other people too.

Should be each person's choice in my opinion. Seen something similar before about a woman with severe muscle wasting who was totally locked in and in constant pain, but they would let the doctors or family assist in her death because it was "inhumane"

      I totally agree,
there really is no ownership of your own life, he doesn't want to be here, yet it forced to carry on with what must be a heartbreaking life,
I don't understand how there can be talk of human rights at any higher level when choices like this get made for you..
