      Most gyms have mirrors covering at least one wall, and after a while you probably stop thinking about why they are there.

      They can help you check your position during exercises like lateral raises or squats. At the same time, constantly watching yourself might make it harder to concentrate on how the movement actually feels.

      Would removing the mirrors change the way you train?

      Do you use them to check your form, watch the muscles working or keep an eye on what is happening around you? Perhaps you barely notice them at all.

      I also wonder whether mirrors help beginners learn good technique or encourage people to focus too much on appearance. Would you choose a well-equipped gym with no mirrors over one with mirrors everywhere?
