      Has anyone tried mountain climbing to lose fat -- no, not actually scaling a mountain but the exercise routine. It involves being in an almost plank position and running in place without moving your arms. I do this where I extend my feet up to my abs; however, I have added several variations on this. I use furniture movers under my feet since they glide and it makes it less stressful on my thighs. Seems to be working for me. Thoughts?

      It's part of the leg workout for a bootcamp group I go to - I definitely think that overall, I'm seeing results, but can't say for sure whether it's the mountain climbers or just a combined total of all the working out I'm doing. In saying that, they definitely do feel like they're working my muscles when I'm doing them!

      I don't personally think that mountain climbing is good way to lose fat at the beginning. It involves a lot of physical pressure which may even bring you to an insult.

      I would rather start with walking and light jogging and once I became a little bit more fit for mountain climbing, I would actually go and give it a try.

      Correct, I would agree with that assessment, but for me I find it much more enjoyable than boring sit ups and ab workouts. I actually look forward to that part of my routine, that's why it's my favorite.

      Sounds like an interesting variation on the norm. Sometimes I think the key is to do something a little different to keep it fresh.

      Mountain climbers don't help. I used to do it when I started working out. There was a fitness channel known as sixpackshortcuts and I learned it from there. Used to do it daily but it doesn't work well.
      You would realize the body needs to be stressed a bit and sadly mountain climbers don't put enough stress
