I think it's a very good idea to talk to your biology teacher and/or school guidance counselor about your underweight.

 

As long as you have goals, that will motivate you. But it is also important to just gradually gain/lose weight, as it would help in the long run. Eating too much or too little would be incredibly unhealthy, and you will risk getting multiple health problems by just trying to gain/lose weight. Hopefully you made the right choice and take it slow, because even though it will take a while longer, it will also stay longer, as your body would have adapted to the new lifestyle by then.
