I've always disliked the growing compensation culture in this country.

However I was injured in the army and suffered some negligence which made my injury worse and has resulted in me being medically discharged, the army doctors were completely useless and I waited 11 weeks for a diagnosis of a broken bone which resulted in it not healing in time and me being basically chucked out of training.

My friend works as a claims assessor and he reckons I could sue for quite a bit, but it's something I'm not comfortable with and I'd feel like a hypocrite.

He reckons I'm looking at £10k to £20k

      Would you sue?

      (edited to add poll)

im also anti claim culture but lets look at this logically....

      you joined the army.
      they broke you.
they didnt repair you in time.
they then chucked you out for being broken.

i would sue personally. you have lost your career cos of this.

and its not like you are suing the council after you tripped on a cracked pavement or owt. this seems like a genuine reason to make a claim imo.

If you've been genuinely hard done by then yes, that's what compensation is for, to compensate for loss of earnings etc.

Unfortunately though nowadays everyone thinks that they're owed something for nothing and make bogus claims forcing all of our insurance premiums up.

Compensation culture aside. Do you feel you deserve compensation for the negligence... was it popper negligence or just one of those things?

Thats the army for you. But still do what you feel is right, personally I think you should, especially if you've been hard done by.

yes but just be aware. What people say you will get and what you ACTUALLY get are two diffrent stories

friend of a family member lost his leg below the knee.... they said £15-30k

      He got 6.5k

That's true. My mother got bit by a dog resulting in a slipped disc in her back due to the attack and the bite got infected and she couldn't work for her employer for 6 months as it was his dog and she got £4,000.

      Fcking joke
