In short I have a perforated ear drum and got some water in it swimming the other day. Its driving me nuts now and is getting painful. Can feel the waster swishing round when I rub it. Worried I am going to get an infection.

Are there any tried and tested ways of sorting this? Serious suggestions please as its really very uncomfortable and don't think I will sleep tonight

Have you tried sleeping with that ear on the pillow?

Stand up, whatever ear it is tilt your head so that ear is parallel with the ground and stamp that foot (I.e. Left ear, left foot)

Presuming you have been to the docs dude? Dont do any of that manning up winging it sh!t, infections are nasty you should really go if it gets worse. And yeah i would say make sure you lie on that side of your face when you sleep, the force of gravity surely cant hurt.

Annoyingly I sleep on the other ear. I think I am making it worse by rubbing but its so bloody irritating. have to be ultra careful with it being perforated.

I assume GPs can do nothing to help?

I always used to tilt over so the full ear is towards the ground and use a finger like a plunger. Takes a while sometimes but eventually it comes!

(I used to swim a lot and always had watery ears afterwards)

There is olive oil mate, it mite not be water it could be a wax issue.

Also try Cerimol, very good stuff, few drops and it cleared me up..

lay on you side bad ear down and rotate your head in all plains as ear is canal shaped, use ear plugs next time,it should clear of own accord though, but visit gp!
