      Replacing a meal consisting of:

      1oz Almonds: 163cal (6p/6c/14f)
      2 tbsp Steffi Peanut butter: 200cal. (8p/6c/15f)
      2 slice Wholemeal Bread: 146 cal. (7.4p/28c/1.4f)
      Total: 509cal. (21.4p/40c/30.4f)

      with:

      a cupcake/a brownie/a slice of delicious cake/caramel popcorn

All under 500kcal, for the last 4 weeks.

whilst maintaining a 10% calorie deficit from my TDEE and hitting at least 1.5g of protein for the day. Maintained the same workout intensity from the previous month.

But losing 8.6lbs of muscle and gaining 3.5lbs of fat.

Isn't it just calories in vs calories out?

Are the sugars/saturated fat/trans fat the cause of this?

      IIFYM question..

How do you know that you've lost muscle and gained fat? Those are pretty precise figures.

      IIFYM question..

pretty sure he's using his current BF% to get those figures. Nonetheless, if you aren't using a very accurate way to calculate your BF%, there's probably something wrong with your measurement.

and there's much more to it than just cal in < cal out. I could eat under my TDEE with pringles only and you won't see much fat loss lol

      IIFYM question..

Well... yeah. But how? If he's using scales, the figures aren't worth a damn thing is my point. If he's using calipers, he's measuring wrong. That's my drift.
Like the guy up there says: you don't lose that much muscle in 4 weeks. And certainly not on a 10% TDEE deficit.

      IIFYM question..

My gym has a Tanita machine. This one to be exact: http://www.tanita.com/en/bc-418/

Lol I mean.. I was hitting at least 1.5g of protein per pound of lean weight for the last 4 weeks.

      That machine is pretty accurate..

No not really.. just checked. I use the same macros for every 4 weeks and readjust for the next 4 weeks. But.. my results shocked me today.

Yeah.. but I was hitting all my macros and maintaining a caloric deficit. I think I consume all my needed micros, (I think..) since I take a multivitamins..
