Keto, a diet with a high fat, moderate protein, low carbohydrate formula. See, upping your consumption of protein and fat while drastically reducing your carb,I tried the keto diet for a week to see how long it would take for my body The keto, or ketogenic diet, is high fat and low carb, and it's designed to put the body in a state of ketosis, which happens when you burn fat for fuel instead of carbs.

My wife tried this a few years back but had to give up - she felt terrible, light-headed and tired all of the time.

Am I right in thinking it is based on starving your body so that it eventually starts burning fat for energy?

Yes, the ketogenic diet is based on the idea of starving the body of carbohydrates so that it starts burning fat for energy. It's important to note that it may not be suitable for everyone and can have side effects like fatigue and lightheadedness.

HALLE BERRY practices this diet or at least she used to and she looks beautiful. However, I have done research on this since I am a professional body builder if that makes sense. According to a study, "within the first 6-12 months of initiating a keto diet, transient decreases in blood pressure, triglycerides, and glycosylated hemoglobin, as well as increases in HDL and weight loss may be observed. However, the aforementioned effects are generally not seen after 12 months of therapy." So what I feel the study is saying is your body may find another way to get energy or copes with the change and adapt since after 12 months no effects are noticed. Maybe it does begin to muscles which can weaken muscles and impact pain like nsebu miln was saying,
, arthritis in my opinion. However, they did not study the patients long enough to make that determination. With my medical background this is not a permanent solution to continuing to lose weight! https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7480775/

My advice is to focus on losing weight the old-fashioned way by eating low calories and high protein which helps curb your appetite. When I lose weight for contests I need to do it quickly now I am 230 so it is a little bit easier for a body builder to lose weight than a lighter individual who already is in shape, but the same rule applies: low calories LOW CALORIES LOOOOW CALORIES! I am eating FIT EXTEND's vegan organic protein powder the vanilla one it only has 120 calories and 22 grams of protein 30 servings also that means it is protecting muscles from being eaten overtime when the body stops eating fat which may happen on this keto diet i you keep it up, its cheap as heck they sell 2 packs on AMAZ, remember your body is forever adapting to your diet you are what you eat that is why vegans have less oily skin etc. I buy the two pack its less than MUSCLE MILK and has no cholesterol.

Also you will need some kind of creatine if your going on a KETO diet to avoid your body cannibalizing your muscles and the huge lack of energy you will begin to feel while your body uses your fat for energy, I have taken FIT EXTEND 5 G creatine strawberry gummies for years I am not on a keto diet but the stuff works there was a woman i was viewing on FLIP that was talking about them she was on a GLP-1 weight loss injection and she complained about energy loss while on it and felt weaker she began to take the FIT EXTEND 5000 MG (5G) creatine gummies the strawberry kind and she was only on it for 15 days and she already began to see improvements! JUST BE SAFE GUYS EVEN with the GLP-1 weight loss injection yea they sell it on HIMS but what happens when you stop taking it? The key to lose weight is cardio and a low calorie diet POINT BLANK but you must prepare for the damage your body will undergo when you attempt this difficult goal. CONSULT WITH YOUR DOCTOR ALSO BEFORE YOU START ANYTHING! YOUR ALL BEAUTIFUL NO MATTER WHETHER YOUR SKINNY OR FAT JUST MAKE SURE YOUR HEALTHY!

The ketogenic (keto) diet, characterized by high fat and low carbohydrate intake, has been a topic of extensive discussion and varied personal experiences. While some individuals report positive outcomes, such as weight loss and improved energy levels, others encounter challenges, including fatigue and light-headedness, as noted by MarkB's wife. These side effects often stem from the body's adaptation to ketosis, where it shifts from using glucose to burning fat for energy.

It's important to recognize that responses to the keto diet can differ significantly among individuals. Factors such as metabolic health, activity levels, and personal health conditions play crucial roles in determining its suitability and effectiveness. For instance, while some may thrive on a keto regimen, others might experience adverse effects or find it unsustainable in the long term.

Recent discussions have also highlighted potential concerns associated with prolonged adherence to the keto diet. Studies suggest that while initial benefits like weight loss and improved blood markers may occur within the first 6-12 months, these effects often plateau or reverse after a year. Additionally, there are indications that long-term keto dieting could negatively impact gut health and cholesterol levels, potentially increasing the risk of heart disease.

Given these considerations, it's advisable to approach the keto diet with caution. Consulting with a healthcare professional or a registered dietitian can provide personalized guidance, ensuring that any dietary changes align with your health goals and needs. Remember, sustainable and balanced eating habits, combined with regular physical activity, remain foundational to long-term health and well-being.
