      Hello all.

Well, so now I understand that I actually hate coffee, just love the sugar and cream.

Tried to quit yesterday cold turkey and that has been a disaster. So today coffee with coconut milk.

That right there is motivation in and of itself to quit!

So what else can I use that might make coffee more palatable in the meantime while I am working on weaning myself off of it?

      A few ideas:-

      Replace with herbal tea
      Choose decaf
      Limit evening consumption
      Stay hydrated
Replace rituals associated with coffee time

Totally get where you’re coming from a lot of people realize what they actually like about coffee isn’t the coffee itself, but the treat that comes with it. Going from sweet and creamy to plain black is rough, so easing off gradually makes sense.

If you’re trying to make coffee more tolerable while cutting back on sugar and cream, you can experiment a bit. Coconut milk like you mentioned is a solid start it adds creaminess without being super heavy. You could also try oat milk or almond milk; oat milk especially has a natural sweetness that smooths out coffee’s bitterness. If you still need a touch of sweetness, try a small amount of honey, maple syrup, or even a sprinkle of cinnamon or cocoa powder those can give flavor without the sugar crash.

Another trick is changing the brew. Cold brew or light roast coffee tends to be less bitter and acidic, so it’s easier to drink with less added stuff. You can also make your coffee weaker and then gradually strengthen it over time as your taste buds adjust. If you find that you just don’t like coffee no matter what, that’s fine too you can switch to green tea, matcha, or even chicory-based coffee substitutes while keeping a similar morning ritual.
