I'm really trying to make a more conscious effort to consume more protein - but my weakness is snacking. I feel like when it comes to snacks I'm always going straight for carb loaded foods.

One of my struggles is that I really, really don't like eggs. A lot of things I've read about high protein snacks suggest just having a hard boiled egg, but I can't stand them. I do sometimes have greek yogurt as a snack, but I'm trying to think of other high protein healthy options that I can have when I'm feeling peckish.

Does anyone have any good suggestions for what they go to when they're needing a high protein snack?

I've been trying to add high protein snacks too! I love making a smoothie with greek yogurt, spinach, and frozen berries, it's delicious! I'm also a big fan of string cheese. Hummos with carrot & celery sticks is another great snack with lots of vitamins and protein. Beef jerky has a great amount of protein too, if you can handle the sodium.

I take three large scoops of peanut butter and eat that, no bread though as that's too many carbs for me. It's easy to do and only takes a minute to gulp down plus it tastes good. I try to stay away from egg yolks and things like that as I don't particularly like the taste and turns me off the idea of eating it every single day.

That's a good idea with adding spinach to smoothies - I need to be doing more of that, so that I can get my greens in! I love hummus and carrot sticks too! Getting to dip the sticks just feels indulgent...maybe like I'm dipping chicken nuggets into sauce, just healthier! :)

I quite like beef jerky too, but like you said it's kind of the sodium that pushes it over the edge. I've seen some more 'healthified' beef jerky brands online, and even turkey jerky and chicken jerky, so I might have to look into some of those brands and see what the nutrition statistics are :)

Sugar free Jello is something that I have sometimes. It is not a proper meal, more of a snack that I have if I am feeling anxious. Jello is basically pure protein with nothing else if you go sugar free. Have it with some almonds for some healthy fats.

I used to mix chocolate whey protein powder into greek yogurt and put the mix in the freezer for a couple of minutes, it comes out as some kind of chocolate ice cream or pudding. You can do it with a spoon, nothing fancy. It was actually so good and tasty that I had to stop doing it because I was having too many of those.

Why not try having a shake with fruits and protein powder? Some beef jerky and trail mix too? When I was still going to the gym before my injury, those are the things a friend of mine suggested that he himself snacks on. He prefers hard boiled egg whites though, as those are the ultimate source of pure protein. There are also recipes for high protein snacks that you can do scattered all over the Internet. Google, my friend. Google.

I guess if we all used google to answer our questions the forum here wouldn't exist! I prefer to interact with people and get their experiences with things rather than just interacting with a search engine - especially when it comes to my health!

I do quite enjoy trail mix but I find nuts are just so high calorically - but protein powder in a shake with some fruit and sruff for flavor is a great tip. Sometimes I find some proteins are kind of chalky and I think the fruit would help with that :)

Wow that's a nice collection of snacks!
Though I have to say that dairy products like greek yogurt also have a high content of fat, so smoothies need to be regulated too. But really yogurt is the most fulfilling part of the smoothie, so we can't do without it.

My go-to protein snacks are eggs in lettuce-tomato salads or alternatively just strawberry smoothies.

What kind of protein snack would you recommend for a new start?

Hi, I think almonds and peanuts are the best.
