Srs question. Don't understand why the diets recommend high carbs and low fat for maintaining a healthy diet (all protein sources are recommended to be lean/low fat).

Yes, but even the guides in the stickies of the Nutrition forum here do it. They are supposed to be for optimal health.

People are afraid of gaining fat, and don't want any in their body.

Makes people with no sense the bodily equilibrium of calories in / out s**t themselves.

+ Professional body builders don't eat very much fat as they don't need as much as an average human (they get their hormones from other sources).

you also have to take two other things into account.
      1. when trying to restrict calories. most people have the desire to eat as much as possible, whilst consuming as small number of calories as possible. fat has 9 calories per gram, whilst carbs and proteins only have 4per gram. more volume yeh?

      2. it is still possible to eat too much fat, regardless of how good it actualy is.
look at the state of the worlds eating habits? if people are told to eat more fat. do you think we will see people eating more olives, eggs, nuts and fish?

no! butter and bacon sales are gona go through the roof! and everything is guna get pumped full of sat fat and hydrogenated fats

Have not seen a guide in this section suggesting low fat. The main source in this section suggestst 0.45-1g/lb for fat.

You're implying that saturated fat is bad...

Hydrogenated fat is bad. No questions asked.

      1. The guides here don't recommend a maximum fat, just a safe target level of fat for maintaining proper hormone/body function. You can eat more.
      2. The majority of people I would venture read that thread going into a cut rather than bulk. With high protein recommendations, calorie dense fat becomes harder to fit into a diet outside of doing a keto style diet, which is extreme to many people.
      3. Outside of chicken breast and a few other sources, even "lean" cuts of protein have a decent amount of fat in them. Lean meats are also recommended because despite preaching otherwise, the majority of people even on this forum refuse to do any form of calorie counting. Lean meats help keep protein high and calories in check.
