My renewal is due in a couple of weeks and a few times due to my job i reached the limit of my allowance. Even though it was meant to be unlimited it was subject to fair usage which didnt help me.
Does anybody actually use a truly unlimited broadband? Ie no limits at all? What about any packages which give free gifts like ipads etc...????

Hey dude, its quit cheeky actually, but the oly 'truely unlimted' supplier currently is Virgin - but only using their 100Mb links!!! any of there lesser packages you are subject to the fair usage allowance policy, which is actually really not very substantial!!! but yes, Virgin would be your best shout for truely unlimited!

      Hope this helps

      Regards,
      Alex

I'm with BT unlimited broadband. You can download as much as you want but my speed was 3 meg when I was on 40GB a month then when I switched to unlimited they reduced my broadband speed to 2 meg even though the woman on the phone explicitly told me they don't cap your speed (a bare faced lie).

Ye BT will chat as much sh1t as they can get away with, they can call it unlimited, becoz in actual fact your downloading is unlimted... HOWEVER what they dont state is that your unlimted downloads will be at your purchased speed!!! Hence unlimted downloads...

That why virgin are the bosses atm with there biggest package which actually is unlimited.

I tried to switch to Virgin but they're not available in my area :(

I'm going to switch to BT Infinity when it becomes available because at least that will be mega fast (I hope).

I think that most providers will have some fair usage limit.
I was with BT unlimited and played Xbox, downloaded films, watched copious amounts of porn and never got a warning from them about over use.

you dont get warnings mate, they just cap your speed, you will have only ever noticed the cap in place if you were downloading after the cap was enabled. It tends to be focused on those who download during peek hours, thus scr*wing the contention ratio for everyone on the link with you.
