been lifting for 7 months and started doing squats and deads regularly around 3 months ago (which I regret). My question is, should my stiff leg deadlift be easier than my regular deadlift? deadlift 1rm is 275, I can do 225 for around 5-7 reps. Today I tried 225 for sldl and I did 9 reps pretty easily. Do I have an imbalance or something? Is this normal?

How many times did you do 275?

As you can see the regular deadlift brings the quads and soleus into play, and targets the erector spinae rather than the hamstrings. I don't know if I'd call it an imbalance. I am very similar: I can SLDL 405 for 5, but that would probably be my about my 1RM for a traditional DL.

I assume the first part of the DL is the most difficult for you (lifting off the ground), but the lockout is easy? You may want to strengthen your quads and glutes (knee extension and hip extension, respectively).

      Good luck!

I would but today was leg day and I just got back. Could it be that I'm not going low enough on stiff leg deads? I only go until I feel my hamstrings getting stretched

Unless you're doing "straight back" SLDL, you should be going all the way to the ground (hence DEADlifts, cause it's dead weight).

Hell yes. That power portion of pushing the ground away really hard is difficult for me, I find I go a lot slower at that portion than the rest of the movement. Thanks for the tips, repped
