I have been looking at the motivation teen transformations on the main page and some guys are ripped with 8 packs and big chest and arms then i looked at his weight 176 lbs ?

my question is if i already weigh 170 lbs , if i did a cut diet to get from 17% bf to 8-9% bf and did heavy compound exercise on top of p90x in the am mornings then would i get ripped without going on a bulk ?

i would be happy to cut and get a ripped 8 pack toned muscles first then slowly bulk adding on lean muscle is this a rooky mistake and me being inexperienced and stupid please put me straight if im wrong lads

      Son...you need to bulk. Period.

      Drop the P90xyzabcde crap.

Compound movements. Eat. Rest. Do it for six months.

      P90X is crap.

Do a program focusing on compound movements like Starting Strength or Stronglifts, eat enough, get enough sleep, and a month into it you'll realize just how fuking stupid P90X is.

Given what you look like now, I would venture that you should probably work on gaining muscle until you weigh about 205-210 (I think you are around 6'1?), then cut to 180 and see where you are at. Use a real lifting routine and not a fly-by-night tony horton or similar spin off program. Getting big and strong takes dedication and lifting big weights, followed by losing a lot of fat.

yeah, if I were you I'd bulk.

just an opinion though.......just about everybody (who's 180lbs or less) with a low-ish bf% (12-10%) looks much bigger when they are shirtless and centered in a photograph.
If you were let's say 185lbs with 8% bf, you may look pretty big though either way. Having at least 170-175lbs of LBM is a very good base to work with.

your the guys with the experience of course i am going to listen

but bulking what does it do increases your weight, i am 170 lbs i would have to create a 500 cal increase gain roughly a lb a week

ok example a 240 lb man but fat and chubby

240lb man ripped with big muscles

whats the difference , the ripped guy does weights yes, well if im 170 lbs why cant i do weights and train my 170lbs into ripped muscles whats the difference im 17 170 lbs is alot for my age,

theres this guy on the teen motivation transformations 149 lbs !! ripped to shreads with big muscles

lol'd at OP wanting to cut. With the complete lack of muscle mass you currently possess what would you be cutting to see? Better to eat a lot, lift heavy and actually build some muscle for 8 months or more, and then think about cutting. Doing compounds will work the abs enough to add some thickness to them, and you may even be able to see them at a higher bf% anyway.

But in short as PBateman said, eat a lot, lift heavy, sleep well.

To be ripped you need to get the muscles first. At your age best to bulk as everybody said.

Or you can cut and end looking like a anorexic girl.
