So I passed my driving test and got myself a car. Y reg corsa, does the trick A to B. So drove it for the firs time today, and when starting it up, in 1st gear... get the bite and put gas on and away.... But it seems I dont need any gas or bite... Ive just been lifting the clutch and its been moving off... Shouldnt it stall lifting the clutch without gas and the bite ? In the two cars I learnt to drive in.. you needed clutch, gas + bite to take off from stationary in 1st. Just a little confused..
New car... strange i learnt to drive in a diesel corsa.i didnt need any accelerator either, just put in gear and lift foot off clutch.away it went
New car... strange Its just passed its MOT.... Maybe ive explained wrong.. There is a biting point... I can get the bite.. and hold it there to control movement, But when im starting off from stationary... I dont need any gas... I simply bring up the clutch and it moves off without stalling.. lol!
New car... strange Is it a diesel? If it is, then that will be why. They have more low down torque than petrol engines and so you generally don't need high revs to pull away.
