      I know that some people believe in IIFYM (if it fits your macros) and they believe as long as you hit your targets you will be fine and hit your goal bulk or cut, what im wondering is that im struggling to eat eat bread and rice recently, i keep becoming ill after it nd havinf really bad integestion so if i was to say rather than have scrabled egg with 2 slices of wholegrain bread, could i have say the equivelant of the carbahydrates from a glass of orange juice (which i looooove) What are peoples views on this?

      Cheers

      No, I don't believe a calorie is a calorie..

      Both ilicit diff hormonal responses, sugar from the OJ would release a much more rapid insulin spike than from a sweet potato for instance..

      Then you have the digestion of foods;

      eg: 100 calories from steak uses around 30 calories to digest, so a net calorie worth of 70... 100 calories from pasta takes about 5 calories to digest, so a net calorie worth of 95... Plus as mentioned above - the hormonal output is different.

      If IIFYM keeps you compliant - AND you track macros v tightly - then go for it. Personally I don't feel it's optimal.
