Just curious what is correct. In most of my technical forum, people get ragged for not using the search function to find the previous discussion on a topic, yet on this forum people always seem to get grief for bumping an old thread I assume using the search function. Is it preferred to start the same thread over instead of bumping it?
Forum etiquette Its preferred to answer your questions when possible with search. It is enjoyable to bump ancient threads on occasion. And finally, f'ck etiquette, do what you will.
Forum etiquette Easy answer "it depends". If I knew about and have possibly posted in a thread that may be a month or 3 old, I will bump it. But i'm not searching thru thousands of threads and bumping some 5 yr old dinosaur. If people don't want to read a new version of an old thread, fuk em, they can move on.
Forum etiquette agreed. As long as you're not doing it for trolling purposes. And even then sometimes it's funny.
Forum etiquette We have had a number of people get banned camp passes for doing that, and the excuses for those bannings are always a little odd.
Forum etiquette Most everything done in the O35 Misc is for fun... ...f'ck 'em if they can't take a joke!
Forum etiquette i think it is funny as hell when someone bumps a really old (years) thread and answers the op's question like that were waiting all that time and then a bunch of people also answer it since they never look at the date. but hay that is just me
Forum etiquette cant threads have a self-destruct or auto expiration on them? I find the "Similar Threads" at the bottom of the page promoting these old threads, I mean years old.
