It's a similar exercise to bench press, right? Does it help build your triceps as well as shoulders effectively?

Yes It develops the pectoral minor pretty well, but it is nowhere near a replacement exercise for bench pressing. triceps do get hit well but chest is obviously not the main reason for the exercise, it hits the anterior and lateral delts the most.

EDIT: so I guess to clairify it will help increase BP for the part of the motions in which the shoulders/tris are recruited.

I don't know about how much it works triceps other than anytime your work upper body, your arms have some part in lifting the weights. If you lock out your elbows on shoulder press, the weight may be on the triceps....

I hate doing isolation exercises for triceps, is it ok if I don't work them individually and just do compound movements like Bench press/Shoulder press?

That is all you do on SS is compound movements, so yes, that would be fine.

Why post if you have no idea what you are talking about? @ OP. Yes, shoulder pressing works your shoulders and triceps

I never isolate triceps. Every day of SS has them being hit as a secondary muscle and I do not see that mine are lagging. Tricep isos always hurt my elbows and **** and until I reach a part of my lifting life where I know it's my tricep strength holding me back I will continue to just use compounds to train them.

Yup. Just focus on getting stronger in the main compounds (Deadlift, Squat, Bench, OHP, Chinups, Rows)

I think you already know the answer to this. Of course working out these muscles will help help with your bench press. But why would try to build your bench using this exercise is unknown to me, unless you figure you're lacking in you're shoulders/tri's

Honestly this. There is some carryover for obvious reasons but if one wants to bench more then the best thing for them to do is bench moar.
