I currently do a push pull legs style routine, but i find i'm making slow progress on rows, wide grip pull ups, barbell curls, now i'm improving on deadlift pretty steadily every week, but i'm fcuked for the rest of my routine, doing reading on here etc it seems doing the main compounds first is the best way to do it, should i look at putting deadlifts on another day, maybe legs and alternate sldl with deads every week..? Just don't know what to do, it's really ****ing me off tbh...

Edit: Also would like to know where other's put deadlifts in their routine..?

      Deadlift help?

Mate, i had the EXACT same problem. My deads were going up week after week, and as a result, the rest of my pull routine was slack. I now do a P/P/L routine, but between the Push and Pull days, i have a Deadlift/Power Clean/Shrug day. Working perfectly so far

On a p/p/l routine the consensus seems to either do them first so you can put the most into them, or last so you use less weight which is easier on the joints.

I prefer them first. So what if you feel a bit drained for the rest of the session... that's the idea isn't it, to work the muscles as hard as you can. Like when people say they don't like to do bi's after chest because there arms feel week... that's because you've already worked them hard so they only need finishing off.

That also sounds good, out of interest do you still do a shoulder press movement on your push day?

It just annoys me as i want to improve at a steady rate on everything...

I guess it is mate, but would like to improve on everything quicker not just the main lifts , which is maybe my problem
